Nikon, Canon and Olympus are some of the top rated SLR-styled cameras used by pros. I like Canons because they fit my hands better. To help decide on your camera get one of the annual magazines that tests every camera made that year. They give dimensions and stats that you can compare in an easy format. Besides a good book on photography, try the Kodak video series. It's much easier to learn photography with a moving picture to look at. When you get a little more advanced, try the video series ';On Assignment'; with Brian Ratty. The book I used for my basic photography class when I taught in our community college was: ';Handbook of Photography'; by Lovel, Zwahlen and Folts. Look at other books at your library and bookstore and get the ones that you find have useful information and are fun to read. Good luck and welcome to the world of photography!Photography tips and advice, cameras (Teen)?
For photography tips and advice, I can offer two. Google photography tips, and find something your interested in learning. Then start taking shots - but if your camera doesn't record the meta data, right it down, that way you can learn from that!

Camera equipment - I think everyone has their own opinion on that. I like to use Canon - but, that is because everyone in my family used Canon. I've never saw a problem with them. However, there are people that would argue Nikon is the best. I think the best thing for you to do, is research cameras, and their lenses - get a feel for them - and make a decision from there.

I think Paparazzi probably use a whole variety of different camera's and lenses - variant on the situations that they are shooting in. Just like finding a camera - I'm sure they went for what they are most comfortable with.
There's no such thing as a ';best'; camera -- even your cell phone camera can take a good picture, because that's essentially what photography is; capturing the moment, be it real or setup, you just want to catch a moment that can explain itself upon first viewing.

But when you do get a hold of a camera, learn all about it, doesn't matter what kind it is, get comfortable with it, and don't stop taking pictures whenever you feel like it.
first off, stop saying you sound stupid, you would be stupid if you did not ask and try... a photo is good because a person knew how to take a shot, sometimes it is luck, but learn how to use a camera, light is very important, here is a point, when you take a pic of a person, is the area around the eyes light enough to see or is that area black, that is what makes a pic, you can see the whole area around an eye, it is not blacked out, you do this by learning how to slow down the camera in taking the pic so it can absorb the low light around the eye, another one is taking a pic of some brush, can you see the branches or are they all dark that each branch can not be seen, it looks so dark cause the camera took the pic too fast to be able to obsorb the low light, this is just one point to learn, but it is easy once you figure out how to with the camera you are using
Get a D40, my first camera and it worked wonders!
